I wasn't having any cramping, so I tried not to overreact and just laid back down to rest. It has gradually slowed throughout the afternoon, so that makes me feel a little better. My nurse and doctor called this afternoon after they received the actual ultrasound pics from Augusta. They said that I have a subchorionic hematoma in my uterus underneath the corner of the placentas that is probably the cause of the bleeding. It was described to me as a "cut" in my uterus from the placentas attaching that will hopefully eventually heal. There is nothing I did to cause this, nor is there anything I can do but rest. I don't need to aggravate it further since it can cause placental problems. Geez.
Has anyone else had this issue? Bright red bleeding and all? Need a little reassurance here! No scary stories please. I am to call my nurse first thing in the morning to give her an update. I can't go back to work until it stops and they make sure that all is well in there.
So, I'm going to stay positive here and share the videos/pics from this morning. This is all in God's hands and out of our control. Boom Boom and Pow are little rockstars! I was laughing and beast crying at the same time in the videos, so please forgive the shaking. Poor Andy was crying too. It was the most awesome experience ever! I couldn't even look at first...as soon as she stuck the dildo cam in I heard her say, "There's a heartbeat!" I opened my eyes and looked at the screen and saw the little heart fluttering away! She then moved to another position and sure enough there was another baby with a heartbeat! So flippin' cool!
Here's the first video with the two sacs. If you look below the sacs, you will see a smaller dark spot. That is the hematoma. It is pretty far away from the actual babies, so that is a good thing I hope.
Here is the second video with the heartbeats...best sound EVER:
Baby B (Boom Boom) is on the front R side and measuring 7w1d with a heart rate of 151!
Baby B (Boom Boom) is on the front R side and measuring 7w1d with a heart rate of 151!
Baby A (Pow) was a little harder to get to. It's deeper in my uterus on the L side measuring 6w6d with a heart rate of 144!
Sorry for the crappy quality of the pics. I would scan them in, but I can't get off the couch and go in my computer room! Bummer.
Overall, this was the most exciting day of our lives, drama and all. It's gonna be all right. It has to. Thanks again for all of your thoughts and prayers! Please remember if you know me in real life that we're still keeping this "hush hush" until we make it through the first trimester. Thanks so much!

Praying that the hematoma does not cause the babies any problems!
hope that the SCH goes away and that the pregnancy continues to go well. If you want to read more about a woman's experience with SCH, you can go visit Roccie's blog at http://roccieroad.blogspot.com/
Her SCH resolved and all is well in her pregnancy at this point. I hope it reassures you to read her story. And she is also hilarious, so be prepared to laugh.
Most beautiful sight&sound ever Mommy!!!!
Too cool! I remember that sound so well! Let me know if you need anything!
Love, Aunt M
What a miracle hearing the heartbeats! I pray each day Pow and Boom Boom grow stronger....
Love you girl, Ronda
I just sat here with tears streaming down my face! I am soooooo happy for you and Andy! Those heartbeats sent chills all over. Keep resting and hope to see you soon!

Chills.....Love love love!
I know I keep saying the same thing over each time I comment, but wow!! I TRULY am so happy for you!!! Prayers still coming your way. :)
Ahh, hun sorry for the SCH! I've had one since 8wks4days this pregnancy (I'm 19wks4days now, and it's still there... but A LOT smaller and I'm not on bed rest anymore!). I was on bed rest for months though, passing blood/clots/sludge as mine healed... mine was really big at 3x7.54cm and my clotting disorders complicated things. Through all of this my baby has been just fine.
Most of the time the SCHs will heal, especially by/in the second trimester. My advice? Take it as easy as you can, stay laying down, and drink LOTS of water! Yes, it's scary. Yes, it's risky. But most of the time things turn out just fine!
Oh! And do not consult Dr. Google!
SOOOOO happy for you guys!! I also had the same type of bleeding. I can't remember exactly when it was, but it was late enough to get a heartbeat on my at home doppler and early enough that I wasn't feeling kicks, etc. Anyway, you know our story...we have a healthy baby. :) It was so so so awful and scary and I too had blood dripping in the toilet and all they could do for me was put me on bedrest. So take care of yourself and those babies!! :)
OMGOSHHH! I seriously just squealed with delight when I read this! TWINNSSSS!!! AHHHHH :) So excited for you!
I'm so happy for you - this has made my day...despite the drama!
To reassure you - a v good friend of mine has just been through exactly the same. Found out at 6 weeks she was pregnant but then started to gush blood before having any scan...thought the worst but on scanning they found 2 sacs and 1 heartbeat...twins too! Sadly one didn't make it and this was confirmed at 8wks but they always thought this would be the case as from the beginning that little fella was showing signs that it wasn't developing (so I don't want this to panic you as you had 2 strong heartbeats and so that's really very very encouraging!!)
Anyway, my friend, let's call her ladyX, kept bleeding throughout the first 12 weeks and every time she thought that was it, she was m/cing but each time the heartbeat was there and LB (Little Bruno, as I call it, because it's a little fighter) was holding on! At 10 weeks she got a bout of really bad gastroenteritis and couldn't hold anything down for over a week....but despite the extra trauma going on inside his little nest LB pulled through that too. And now at 17 weeks she feels and looks great, LB is doing brilliantly and everyone is happy all around. The SCH too has caused her to bleed pretty much all the time - she just rested rested rested!
I know that she found this site really encouraging...http://www.angelfire.com/home/joeynrobin/subchorionic.hematoma.html
I'm sure your little boom boom and pow will boom boom and pow their way through this!
I hope this helps you....sorry that it's so long...I could have just said, yup, I know someone, and they are doing great, but that's not my style ;)
Sweet, sweet sounds...from mommy and babies...way to cool!
So happy for you,
Kathy L
That is wonderful! I had tears in my eyes while watching your videos. I am so happy for you! Congratulations!
I am so excited for you, first of all but I am also sorry for this recent hiccup. I have heard of many stories of these bleeds being absorbed into the placenta over time. Rest up and take good care of yourself.
as far as I know, mos SCH's heal on their own! I can't imagine how stressful it would be though- just take it easy and be gentle with yourself!! hang in there, mama!
So scary about the bleeding, I've heard of many women getting SCH that do heal, but it takes LOTS of time, rest and water. A Slice of Pie blog, had one during her pg and she documented the progress of it quite well and humours, check out her blog. I think it was around last summer?
So glad Bom Bom and Pow are thriving. Rest up momma!
I'm sorry about the scary bleeding...but know that one of my good IRL friends has pretty much bled throughout her entire pregnancy and her little one is still attached and she is now 25 weeks...it'll be ok, just try not to let it stress you. *hugs*
Congrats on Boom Boom and Pow!!! So thrilling to see those heartbeats! Sorry about the bleeding scare, but it seems really common with twins (from all the blog reading I have done :) Take it easy and grow those babies!
Oooh DARNIT. I wish I'd have read this before my appt this morning to remind myself to video the kiddo moving on the screen. Oops. Great pics and videos - congrats! Take it easy. :)
Hi I have followed your blog for awhile but never commented before now. I had a subchorionic hemorrhage diagnosed at 6 weeks pregnant that did not fully resolve until about 16 weeks. I bled off and on that entire time. It was a very scary thing to go through but thankfully it was far enough from the baby that it did pose much of a threat. (It was almost in the exact same spot as yours). My doctor didn't put me on many restrictions (but then again I just had a singleton pregnancy) but I did try to take it easy. Anyway I went on to have a perfectly normal pregnancy and delivery and now my daughter is two years old! I am so excited for you and your husband! Twins, I simply cannot imagine! Just take it easy and most of all stay positive, I think that is so important. Those babies need you to be positive for them and trust me you will drive yourself insane if all you do is worry about everything. I learned that very quick. Good luck and I can't wait to read for about your pregnancy!
I am 20 weeks pregnant with twins and I had this same thing at around 8 weeks. I was on bedrest for a full week. I had off and on bright red bleeding for about a week prior to finding out and then after finding it out maybe once or twice and then it was a light brown which eventually went to nothing. They told me if its under the babies, that is the best case scenerio and it looks like yours in under. Just rest up and enjoy, everything will be fine.
PS...I am a new reader. My blog is anjcoakley.blogspot.com however just advise, if you change your comment settings in settings to pop up boxs, people will not have trouble leaving comment without having to be annonymous.
Sending prayers your way. So excited for the good news of twins! I hope y'all will be doubly blessed! :-)
