Gimpin' Ain't Easy

I'm going to copy my sister's style and do a bullet point update tonight! I'm having difficulty sitting upright, so I'm having to type this whilst halfway lying down on my couch. That makes it kind of difficult to be witty and form full paragraphs. Talent folks. Pure talent.
  • I'm finally able to somewhat use my left hand...which makes typing possible! I think that my poor little pyogenic granuloma has bit the dust...he's kind of drying out and doesn't look like he'll be coming back anytime soon. I'm still having to bandage my hand and cover it with a glove during showers, but it's all good. Hopefully I didn't just jinx myself.
  • We're basically done packing our hospital bag. Any advice on must haves??? I think we have most of the essentials, but I don't want to forget anything.
  • My butt started hurting earlier this week and I thought that my pilonidal cyst was coming back. It's still a little sore, but no signs of infection. Good Lord.
  • My last day at work was 2/10 and I'm seriously glad he took me out. I really don't think I could have made it another day after all of the other crap that has popped up! I do miss my coworkers though!
  • I'm a gimp.
  • As of 2/15, Pow weighs 5lb 8oz, and Boom Boom weighs 6lb 13oz...I'm going to give birth to toddlers!
  • The newest ailment: my left thigh started swelling up last weekend. I didn't think anything about it because I've had swelling the entire pregnancy. The last couple of days, my inner thigh has become very painful and swollen. I haven't noticed any redness or warmth but I called my OB anyway. I will be seeing him first thing tomorrow AM and may possibly have a venous doppler if he thinks it is a blood clot. This is why I'm laying on the couch with my legs elevated and trying to type this...afraid to move!
  • I'm a gimp.
  • Pow has the hiccups right now. I love it when they get the hiccups.
  • C-Sec has been scheduled for 3/5 at 7:15 AM if I haven't had them before then!!!
  • Pow is still head down, and Boom Boom is still breech.
  • My high risk OB wanted me to have an amniocentesis next week, but then my regular OB told me not to. She wants to check their lung maturity. He doesn't feel this is necessary considering I will already be full term at 37 weeks and he isn't planning on delivering them until almost 38 weeks at the absolute latest. I agreed with him because I really, really don't want one.
  • Gestational diabetes is still under control with diet.
  • I love fruit punch Kool Aid.
  • I'm going through about 2-3 bags of Sonic Ice each week. Crack is whack. And yes, I'm on iron supplements!
  • My dog needs a bath. I'm a gimp.
  • Andy made me a special eggplant parmesan recipe that has been proven to initiate labor within 48 hours. That was Monday. Andddddd...I'm still here on the couch...with my legs up in the air...using 6 fingers to type...chewing on ice.
  • At my last appointment on Tuesday, my cervix has started to soften, but no dilation yet. After worrying myself to death for the last nine months about miscarriage and preterm labor, it is now apparent that I have a uterus and cervix of steel.
  • Most importantly, after tonight, 10 days at the most until we meet our babies! Life is good!!!
  • My butt hurts. I bid you farewell with some recent pics. I'm a gimp. That is all.

Baney 35 Weeks (Boom Boom) Our little chunky monkey!

Anderson 35 Weeks (Pow) Still so hard to get a good pic of him!

     35 Weeks

     36 Weeks!!!!

Your belly is so darn cute!!!!! That is so crazy that in less than 10 days you will be the mommy of TWINS!!! As for essentials for your hospital bag...you probably do have everything you need, but the two things I was so glad I brought were my own granny panties and pads. All of my friends told me they loved the hospital mesh panties and that the hospital provides pads, so don't bring them. Well, I decided last minute to get some cheap granny panties and pads (overnight ones, but they were thin) and I am sooo glad I did! I hated the mesh panties...and the hosp. pads?? You might as well be wearing a diaper! Just my two cents :)

Yay!! I check your FB and blog like everyday looking for news. I might be stalking you.

I also went through Sonic for ice with all three of my kids. In case Sonic ever runs out, Zaxbys is a good substitute. :)

I think I'm almost as anxious as you to have them born. Seriously I'm excited.

So what are you doing for fun on the couch? Reading, crafting one handed, tv?

The mesh panties and pads are GREAT for a c-section!! I loved them b/c they didn't rub my incision.

    Our hospital bag:

    ~onesies
    ~baby hats
    ~baby socks
~slippers (you will be walking a lot for postop procedures due to c-section)
    ~change of clothes for Andy
    ~camera/video camera
~If I think of anything else I'll text ya! :)

CAN'T WAIT to meet my newphews!! Yay!!! XOXO

Such beautiful photos! AND OMG YOU'RE SO CLOSE!

Ahem, lol. I'm really happy for you, can you tell?

As for the hospital, I way over packed. Let's see, essentials, especially with a c-section... granny panties. I mean, high-waisted ones. You do not want anything low cut, because it would rub on your incision. I still have trouble wearing low cut undies because of my scar being sensitive. Also, stretchy pants... pajamas/yoga are great for the first, umm, month. I also still wore my maternity pants that first month because of the swelling from the incision. It's not so bad the first night or two, but then it got worse. It didn't help that I developed Cellulitis from it though. But swelling is normal. I still have a pouch down there, and am differently shaped from pregnancy so clothes fit different now.

But, you'll mostly be wearing hospital duds and mesh panties while there so do not pack more than a pair or two of pajamas and a going home outfit. Also, you will sweat A LOT from the hormone changes and being post surgery... or at least I did. I got really hot, then cold from all the changes. I woke up every night drenched in sweat, for at least 2 weeks. I think I had to wear the hospital stuff for 24-48hrs because of my catheter and IV.

Bring the obvious of course: cell, charger, laptops if you have them, going home outfits for your LOs.

You shouldn't need diapers or anything if your hospital provides them like ours did.

I didn't have much time to do anything except tend to V and sleep (and even then, not much of that) because of people barging in our room at all hours to check my vitals (and his). So don't worry about things for "downtime" because you probably won't have much :)

I can't think of anything off the top of my head... but good luck to you mama! The first couple days after a c-section are the worst. I mean, it's HARD. Take your pain meds, don't try to be tough. And take it EASY. You will heal up, and within weeks you'll be so much better. It's just getting through those first days that's really hard.

Lots of socks, and cheap ones you can cut so that you don't get cankles, or worse ones! A good pillow for DH and anything stretchy & comfy for you. We had a bag of some candy & crackers & it was nice to have. Countdown is on... Yay!!!

HOLY CRAPPPPPPOLA! I can't believe you're so close to holding those sweet baby boys! YAAAAAAAAAAAAY! Bring your own pillows, the hospital ones are the WORST! We brought one and I wish I had brought one for Ben, poor thing was miserable! We also brought a big blanket for him to sleep in, they don't do much for the dads in terms of keeping them comfortable - and they shouldn't but still, felt sorry for him. Also, we brought an extra empty bag just to take all of that stuff in your room home. Diapers, formula, wipes, blankets, etc etc etc, you can take it ALL! And ask for extras the day before you leave, they will bring you whatever you want, whenever you want, it's nice! Praying for yall, and so so so happy they are almost here! OH and I LOVE the nursery, it's gorgeous!!!!!!!!!!
