It's A Go!

Sorry I haven't updated lately...it's been really busy around here! I'm doing this from my phone, so forgive me if there are any typos.

First off, we were approved for the Shared Risk program! We had some issues with our first contract and the total was almost twice what we were quoted last year. Awesome. The only thing that was covered was the egg retrieval and transfer. Everything else was out of pocket...donor compensation, labs, ultrasounds, etc. So, we we're just about to take a leap of faith and pay for a cycle without the chance of getting a refund if it didn't work. Our financial rep had to call the company and they wrote up another contract that included everything but my monitoring. The fee was still a lot more, but we went ahead and agreed to it. We just couldn't stomach taking the chance and having absolutely no money refunded if this doesn't work. It's a nauseating amount of money! We get 3 fresh donor IVF cycles, and unlimited FET cycles. 100% of our money is refunded if we don't take a live baby home from the hospital after all of the cycles are used up.

I started Lupron injections yesterday and will do so until the transfer which is scheduled around 4/19. I will start estrogen sometime in the next month, and will do progesterone suppositories and progesterone in oil injections after the transfer. From what I've heard, those are hell! It's like injecting molasses into your butt cheek...twice a day for 12 weeks. k.

So far so good! My next appointment for labs and an ultrasound is 3/23. I have to go back to the dreaded Augusta doctor whom is a pompous arse, but I'd rather not have to drive to Charleston all of the time while trying to work.

Please pray! :)

Ooohh!! So incredibly excited and hopeful for you. And don't sweat the PIO shots...I was nervous as well but if you heat up the PIO for a few minutes sandwiched in between a heating pad, then immediately after injection have Andy rub your toochie for like 1 - 2 minutes quite vigorously but not so much that it hurts (yeah...you can imagine the scene!!). The rubbing disperses the oil into the tissue better so you don't get lumps. Then warm the injection site with a heating pad for about 10 minutes and nothing...you just want to get that oil dispersed as soon as possible. I also used to sit on a cold pack for 5 minutes to numb the area prior to injection but really found that the needles were painless. Can't wait to follow along!

Congrats!! You must live close to me b/c the Charleston clinic would be the same one I'd have to go to. Its 1 1/2 North of me. :)

Andrea told me about your blog and I was really interested. I always wondered why you and Andy hadn't ever had babies. Oddly enough, I just registered with a company to donate my eggs. I thought it would be a great thing to do for someone that really wanted a baby since I am not gonna be using the eggs! I am going to follow your blog now because its very sweet and interesting. Best of luck and Congratulations Jessica! -Brittany Markwalter

Definitely will!!! I look back and wish we had done that deal as well...paying for a 2nd total cycle hurt the other day. Good luck!

Thanks Brittany! Yeah, I always get asked why we don't have kids...if people only knew that I've been trying to have one for 6 years, lol. Good for you for donating...if I would have known that, then I would have chosen your awesome genes! Just kidding...it would probably be awkward for you to "know" about a child in the same town as you. Ours has to be completely anonymous through the clinic we go to anyway.

Thanks for following and for your sweet comment:) I've done IVF quite a few times, so if you need any help or advice with injections when you do a donor cycle, just let me know!
